Have You Emailed Your MP Since the General Election?
We need everyone’s help to ensure as many MPs as possible write to The Treasury about the ongoing issues faced by historic fraud victims. If you haven’t already contacted your MP since the election, please do so immediately.
Below, you’ll find a template email to make this process easier.
All MP (parliamentary) emails follow the format firstname.surname.mp@parliament.uk. Some MPs also have a separate constituent email, which can be found on their official website.

Please forward any responses you receive to us.
Follow-Up is Crucial
Remember to follow up on your email after a couple of weeks. MPs, especially new ones, are extremely busy. It’s essential to meet with them in person if possible, particularly during the summer recess when Parliament isn’t in session.
Thanks to the efforts of dedicated pro bono volunteers, supportive MPs, and persistent campaigning, we’ve made significant progress. However, we must keep up the pressure to secure a resolution for all affected victims. Our goal is not only to resolve the current issues but also to prevent such situations from occurring in the future.

Subject: Historic Fraud Victims Facing Bankruptcy and Enforcement by HMRC
Dear [MP's Name],
First of all, congratulations on your success at the recent election. I look forward to engaging with you and wish you well for this Parliament.
I am writing to highlight the severe and unjust treatment of fraud victims by HMRC and to urge you, as my MP, to advocate for an independent review into this scandal and to find a lasting and fair resolution.
My family and I are among those whose lives have been devastated by this issue. For many years, we have endured the consequences of this situation, which has caused us tremendous hardship.
Fraud and financial misconduct is life-altering and a significant problem in the UK. Thousands who followed professional advice and received no early warnings from HMRC now face financial ruin due to this issue. There have been bankruptcies, loss of homes, divorces, stress, anxiety, mental breakdowns, and even suicide attempts.
HMRC are a law enforcement body. However, all their current focus and resource is centred on pursuing victims.
Victims have been fighting this battle for 10 years. Without a change in approach, further suicides and bankruptcies are inevitable. There must be a pause, an independent review, and a comprehensive resolution.
Fraud Victims United, a newly formed non-profit organisation, has written to Sir Keir Starmer about this issue. You can find their letter here: ADD WEBSITE LINK
I am requesting your assistance as my MP. Please write to the Chancellor and the Treasury to ensure this issue is addressed properly. Please tell the Chancellor that a full review of the entire scandal and my case is necessary and please urgently call on the Treasury to suspend all enforcement actions against victims, which is currently scheduled for September.
Can I arrange a meeting with you to discuss the impact this has had on my life and explore ways you can help?
Please support the review, write to the Chancellor and Treasury, and support Fraud Victims United if you can.
I look forward to your response and wish you a restful summer recess after the election.
Kind regards,
